2017 Royal Platinum Wedding Anniversary £5 PNC

We were lucky enough to get our hands on this beautiful £5 PNC celebrating the platinum wedding anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip. These are fresh from the Mint and you will just love these oversized PNCs. This coin is unusual as it has both the Queen and Prince Philip on the obverse.

As Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh celebrate their platinum wedding anniversary, The Royal Mint and Royal Mail have come together to mark the longest marriage in royal British history.

This limited edition coin and stamp set contains six photographic stamps charting the young couple during the year of their wedding in 1947, from the moment news broke of their engagement to the honeymooning newly-weds on holiday. A specially designed and dated handstamp features a contemporary silhouette portrait, marking the date of the platinum wedding anniversary.

The stamps are presented with a commemorative £5 coin that is finished to Brilliant Uncirculated standard – a finer finish than the United Kingdom’s circulating coins. The coin’s reverse was created by John Bergdahl, inspired by both The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh’s love of horses, while a special portrait of the couple appears on the obverse, designed by sculptor Etienne Millner.
