This PNC celebrates 200 years of Australia Post. Working hard particularly when the rest of the country is in turmoil. We rely on these workers to keep things going.
Featuring the former convict Isaac Nichols who was appointed the country’s first postmaster on the 25th April 1809.
The coin’s reverse depicts a coloured representation of Isaac Nichols from an artwork by R. Shackel, an artist employed in the Drafting Section of the Central Office of the Postmaster General’s Department, Melbourne. His artwork was the basis for the commemorative stamp Birth of the Post Office 1809 issued in 1959 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Australian Post Office.
Comes in its own plastic protective slipcase, this is a great collectors item.
